Fashion, Charities, & The W Event

The W Event

The fashion industry is one that is constantly growing. With this growth, the industry realizes that great success comes with great responsibility. The success of the fashion industry has lead to it’s increasing involvement in philanthropic pursuits. Several brands like TOMS and The Fashion Project have created initiatives that help others in need. For example, TOMS’ One for One model focuses on providing impoverished families with the gift of shoes, sight, safe birth and bullying protection through the purchases of TOMS eyewear, sustainable shoes and more. The Fashion Project: Fashion As A Force For Good, which is a another philanthropic source that focuses on donating proceeds from coveted brands that are shopped from ‘do gooders’ who have donated. We love the ‘do gooders’ and would like to also consider ourselves that.

Just last month on May 16, we had the pleasure of attending and covering The W Event Presented by Seacoast Bank and Shel Marks PR. A night where fashion was able to pay it forward by donating proceeds to a local charity. The event allowed local boutiques and designers to showcase their apparel, some of which were shoppable at the event. Featured were that of the trendiest, distinct, whimsical and fun boutiques such as Tuni Winter Park, Carmen Steffens, Red Carpet Couture & Gems, Forema Boutique, Lulu Lemon Athletic Wear, and Cloak & Dapper. This fashionable event was held at the Jaguar of Orlando and there wasn’t a better venue to hold such an event with the presence of luxury all around. Shel Marks PR planned the event to help raise proceeds for the Feed & Fortify Charity, which provided delectable food for the attendees. While Melanie Pace, Personal Stylist and On-Air Fashion Expert emceed the night, making it more enjoyable. Dr. Francelis Gonzalez, also known as Dr. G, and other women who’ve done a phenomenal job in the community as well as the event, also did a phenomenal job strutting down the runway. The W Event was quite an experience and we cannot wait to attend next year’s, because giving back is always in style!
